New development, New track
1. MMT
The national four-stage standard of "Motor Gasoline" was fully implemented in 2014, and the standard stipulates that the manganese content in domestic MMT (methylcyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl) gasoline will be lowered from 16 mg/l in the current national three standard to 8 mg/L. In this context, where will the domestic MMT industry go? At the evaluation meeting on the development and application of gasoline antiknock agent MMT organized by the Chemical Industry Society of China, experts pointed out that the demand for MMT in China's oil market will maintain a moderate growth trend in the next 10 years, and relevant enterprises should use this period to do a good job in the technical reserve of antiknock agent product upgrading.
Domestic MMT accounts for half of the country:
The octane number is the most important quality index of automotive gasoline, and MMT is the only anti-knock additive allowed in China's current national gasoline standard, which is mainly used for refining enterprises to improve the octane number of gasoline and meet the market supply of high-grade gasoline.
There's still room to grow in a decade:
In the future, the increase in the proportion of high-grade gasoline and the increase in the total amount of gasoline production will undoubtedly increase the use of MMT, which is conducive to the future development of the MMT industry, but the "Auto gasoline" national IV standard, which will be fully implemented in 2014, has made the MMT industry controversial. The manganese content in the national IV standard will be reduced by half compared with the current National III standard, and it may be further reduced in the future National V standard, does this mean that the production of MMT will be in a trough?
Oil experts from Sinopec believe that at least in the next 10 years, MMT will have a good space for development. According to reports, at present, the secondary processing of China's refineries is mainly catalytic cracking, and the configuration of catalytic reforming is low, which makes the high-octane number components of gasoline less, which is the basis for the wide application of high-octane number additives, and it is impossible to change in the short term.
At the same time, the experts also calculated the future market capacity of MMT according to the domestic oil demand. Data show that the actual use of MMT in 2010 was only 3,000 tons, and after the implementation of the National IV standard of "Motor Gasoline" in 2015, the maximum capacity of MMT was 3,600 tons. In addition, with the further appearance of domestic MMT quality and price advantages, there will be more imported products replaced, and there will be more domestic MMT to the international market. All this makes the outlook for MMT more optimistic.
Automotive experts agree. They believe that the development of the automobile industry on the one hand, the use of gasoline continues to increase, and at the same time, the proportion of high-grade gasoline is increasing, and these two factors lead to the increase of MMT use will exist for a long time. For the much-criticized use of MMT on the safety of the vehicle, experts said that the Ministry of Environmental Protection, China Automotive Technology Research Center and other third parties conducted several tests have proved that MMT is suitable for a variety of domestic models. MMT is already registered and licensed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for use in the United States. In addition, experts also particularly suggested that on this issue, domestic and foreign MMT manufacturers should not be competitors but should become friends, and jointly carry out research in this area.
Treat MMT carefully according to national conditions:
Although there are different views on MMT abroad, experts believe that China must proceed from the national conditions and carefully formulate standards and policies, because at least from the current point of view, the use of MMT has positive significance for energy conservation and emission reduction, and can also control the production cost of high-grade gasoline. From the perspective of refinery production, the use of MMT can reduce or reduce the degree of refining of gasoline by the refinery, so the energy consumption can be reduced. From the perspective of application process, MMT directly reduces greenhouse gas emissions by improving gasoline combustion efficiency.
In 2010, China's refineries used 3,000 tons of MMT, saving 700,000 tons of fuel oil and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2 million tons. In addition, data show that using MMT to increase the octane number of gasoline by a unit, the cost of per ton of gasoline increases by less than 20 yuan, and using the way to improve the degree of refining to improve the octane number of oil products, the operating cost of refining equipment alone is about 20 times higher than the cost of using MMT.
From the promulgation and implementation date of the standard, from the second standard to the third standard is four and a half years, and the third standard to the fourth standard is also four and a half years. It can be expected that the National IV standard implemented in 2014 will not be replaced by a new standard until at least 2019. Therefore, the expert meeting suggested that MMT manufacturers make full use of this period before 2019, as soon as possible to make technical preparations for the upgrading of antiknock products, and open up new space for the development of enterprises.
2. N-methylaniline
According to the statistics of Changzhou Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, a total of 9313.7 tons of N-methylaniline were exported from Changzhou from January to November, with a value of $19.706 million, of which more than 98% of the products were sold to Russia as gasoline additives.
China has in December 2013 in the new version of the national standard for automotive gasoline GB17930-2013 expressly stipulated that auto gasoline must not be artificially added to aniline compounds. Russia and the Middle East do not. N-methylaniline manufacturers in Changzhou turned their attention to foreign markets such as the Russian market in a timely manner, and achieved export earnings of nearly 20 million US dollars, easing the pressure brought by the implementation of new domestic gasoline standards.
