Polypropylene for home appliances
As one of the four general plastic materials, PP has excellent comprehensive properties, good chemical stability, better molding and processing properties and relatively low price; But it also has some shortcomings such as low strength, modulus, hardness, low temperature impact strength, large shrinkage, easy aging and so on. The modification of PP materials is generally through the addition of mineral reinforcement toughening, weather resistance modification, glass fiber reinforcement, flame retardant modification and super-tough modification, and each of the modified PP has a large number of applications in the field of household appliances.
From the perspective of future home appliance technology development, the humanization of home appliances will be more prominent, product types will be more perfect, and traditional home appliances will be miniaturized and large-scale development. With the continuous emergence of new products, the demand for PP continues to grow. Modified PP has four main development trends:
1)High hardness, high gloss PP. Such products may replace some household appliances, especially PS and ABS for small household appliances.
2)Halogen-free flame retardant PP. With the implementation of the EU RoHS Directive, countries attach great importance to environmental protection, and there is an urgent need to research and develop halogen-free flame retardant PP, which has broad market prospects.
3)Long glass fiber reinforced PP. Ordinary glass staple fiber reinforced PP, the glass fiber contains short, easy to warpage, low impact strength, easy to deformation when heated, therefore, long glass fiber can overcome the shortcomings of the above short glass fiber and product surface. It has good temperature, high impact strength and high heat resistance, and can be used in refrigerators and kitchen utensils.
4)Antibacterial PP. This plastic is a new functional polymer material with bactericidal and antibacterial properties, which is used in the plastic parts of the inner liner of washing machines and electric water tanks, and has broad prospects.
